Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC; stock code: 601869.SH, 06869.HK) won four honors by virtue of its powerful strength, namely the first prize of the "Top 10 Most Competitive Enterprises in China's Optical Communications Industry," the second prize of the "Top 10 Most Competitive Enterprises in the Global Optical Communications Industry," the fifth prize of the "Top 10 Most Competitive Brands in China's Optical Communications Industry," and the prize of the "2018 Best Enterprise with 'Craftsmanship Spirit' in China's Optical Communications Industry." Zhou Jinkai, Manager of the YOFC Strategy and Marketing Department, attended the forum and received these awards on behalf of the company.

With a theme of "The Internet of Everything: 5G Shares a Future of Intelligence," this year's ODC forum was presided over by Song Zhituo, Chairman of the CIC Communication Line Committee. Song Tong, Deputy Secretary General of the CIC, delivered a welcome speech. Wei Leping, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhang Chengliang, Vice President of the China Telecom Beijing Research Institute, and Ao Li, Director of the Research Institute of Technology and Standards of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, gave keynote speeches at the opening ceremony.

During the award ceremony, Mao Qian, member of the Standing Committee of the Communication Science and Technology Committee of MIIT, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Optical Communications Commission and Chief Editor of Network Telecom, summarized the selection of the top 10 most competitive enterprises in the global and domestic Chinese optical communications industry. He said that over the past year, factors such as increased 4G density and the forthcoming commercialized 5G mobile network, data centers, and industrial interconnections and digitization have greatly promoted the development of the global optical communications market this year. 5G has definitely emerged as the most promising market driver, and its large-scale commercial deployment is near at hand, ensuring stable growth for China's optical communications industry.

At the session of the themed forum, Zhou Jinkai delivered a keynote speech entitled "Focus on Innovation-driven and Quality-oriented Development, Work Together to Build an Interconnected and Smart Future." According to Zhou, the global fibre optic and cable industry will usher in new development opportunities. In this context, YOFC will take innovation as the core strategy of enterprise development, as it has always done, seek technology and product innovation, and introduce high-performance development patterns for business diversification. Through these efforts, it will attempt to strengthen and expand its business and continuously accelerate sustainable growth. He also stressed that innovation and quality are inevitable in the development of China's fibre optic and cable industry. YOFC is willing to join hands with all industrial players to create a quality-based, interconnected and smart future by leveraging the leading role of innovation.

Since 2006, the ODC forum has been successfully held for 12 years, attracting wide praise from industrial players. This year, it serves as a booster for discussion and exchanges among participants and for interaction between all links of the optical communications industry. It helps enterprises deepen their understanding of the status and trends of the international and domestic optical communications industries. As such, these enterprises can cope with challenges and seize opportunities, putting effort into fostering strengths and circumventing weaknesses. Industrial chain cooperation and exchanges will therefore be enhanced, helping China's optical communication industry embark on a harmonious, healthy, orderly and sustainable path of development.
